Natasha Kanapé Fontaine

Natasha Kanapé Fontaine is an award-winning Innu poet from Pessamit. She is the author of the critically acclaimed collections “N'entre pas dans mon âme avec tes chaussures” (Don't enter my soul with your shoes), which won the Prix des Écrivains francophones d'Amérique in 2013; “Manifeste Assi”, which was a Finalist for the Prix Émile-Nelligan in 2015; and, most recently, ”Bleuets et abricots” (Blueberries and apricots). She was a proud representative of the Canadian-wide Indigenous movement Idle No More, and she travels throughout Quebec, Canada, and other countries as a poet and public speaker, carrying a message of connection among different peoples and cultures through respect, exchange, and dialogue, under the auspices of dignity and humanity.
